The Junk Ladies - Successful creators and designers of junkmarket finds
Ki Nassauer and Sue Whitney met while watching their sons play hockey, and soon realized they had something else in common: a passion for junk. In 2000, Ki and Sue started JUNKMARKET, a successful retail business that sources, transforms and sells good junk. Together, they traveled the country in search of junk to take back to their workshop for re-purposing. And while they were creating these masterpieces, the Junk Ladies discovered Gorilla Glue. It's a product they use and love.

Project #5
Scrabble Surprise

Tools List:
Saw (we used a radial arm saw)
Nail Gun/Nails
Screwdriver/Screws

Materials Needed:
Gorilla Super Glue
Vintage Scrabble Board and Letters
Barn Board
Plywood
Hangers

Method
Step 1. Measure the Scrabble board. Cut plywood one half inch less than the boards' length/width.

Step 2. Whip out the barn board. Saw a miter joint (45 degree angle) for each corner of the Scrabble board. Make sure the length of barn board equals the length of the Scrabble board.

Step 3. Place the plywood behind the game board. Put one section of the barn board frame onto its appropriate spot on the Scrabble board.

Step 4. Very carefully now... shoot a nail through an inconspicuous spot on the barn board THROUGH the Scrabble board and plywood. This will need to be done at an angle

Step 5.  Repeat step 4 for each section of the barn board frame.

Step 6. Screw the hangers into the back of the plywood.

Step 7. Carefully plan your Scrabble concoction. This is the hardest part.

Step 8. Glue the letters on.

Tips: There are many ways to frame a game board, but we used the tools and methods with which we are the most comfortable. Don't hesitate to change the formula.
